Missile site discussed at City Council meeting

The contaminated former Titan 1 Missile Silo Site off of Oak Tree Lane in Lincoln was discussed at Tuesday’s Lincoln City Council meeting after three Sun City Lincoln Hills community members brought up the contamination’s spread during public comment.

“Lincoln residents are really energized,” said resident Anne Birge who initially rang the alarm on the contamination site. “We’re glad the City Council will demand Placer County immediately remove tons of lead and toxins, and demand the water board to test contamination around the site and remove TCE (trichloroethylene).”

Other community members also addressed the board in defense of not building on contaminated land and urged them to continue to seek solutions for a cleanup. The concern of contamination moving closer to Sun City Lincoln Hills homes by 11 feet per year was also raised.
