WILLIIAMSPORT - The state Department of Environmental Protection is providing bottled water to six homes adjacent to a state-owned lake in northern Lycoming County because of high levels of trichloroethylene found in well water.

There is no known or obvious source of the TCE found in wells north and northeast of the Fish and Boat Commission's Rose Valley Lake near Trout Run, DEP spokesperson Megan Lehman said Monday.

A natural gas company in October detected TCE in a well during routine baseline testing before beginning activity on a well pad, she said.
