Battle Creek Air National Guard Base [MI] to test for PFAS contamination

BATTLE CREEK, MI -- U.S. Air Force officials say they'll test groundwater and soil at the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base to look for possible contamination from past use of firefighting foam.
Analysts expect to begin taking samples of groundwater, soil, surface water and sediment beginning April 16.
The samples will be tested for contamination related to a toxic chemical - per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances - that were once used on Air Force bases to battle petroleum fires.
The foam, AFFF, also was widely used at commercial airports.
