Today vapor intrusion sites qualify for the "Superfund" National
Priorities List only if the risk from another pathway, such as
drinking water, is considered serious. This rule, if finalized, would
include vapor intrusion risk in the calculation of the Hazard Ranking
System score. (Remember, however, that the score is a necessary but
insufficient condition for listing sites on the NPL.}
Positive comments from the public would help move this major change
forward. if you know of (real or potential) vapor intrusion sites
that are inappropriately being addressed under voluntary cleanup
programs or weak state regulatory programs, please describe those
examples.
