Pollution investigation caught White Bear Township board by surprise

WHITE BEAR TOWNSHIP - Town leaders were taken by surprise when they learned the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Department of Health are investigating excess trichloroethylene (TCE) emissions by Water Gremlin, said Board Chairman Ed Prudhon during a meeting Feb. 4.
“We were caught flat-footed on this, too,” Prudhon said, speaking to a resident who expressed concerns about the emissions.
The town is cooperating with the investigation, Prudhon said, adding the town was notified on Jan. 31 - the same day a press conference was held pertaining to the investigation.
