Judge gives Water Gremlin one year to clean up lead dust

Ramsey County District Judge Leonardo Castro on Friday gave Water Gremlin Co. a one-year deadline to fix its lead dust problem.

The White Bear Township company was temporarily closed by state officials in October after investigators found high levels of lead poisoning in 12 children of Water Gremlin employees.

“It is essential that no lead leave the facility where it may continue to poison children,” the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry said in a joint statement. “The judge is committed to moving up the court date if our agencies have concerns about Water Gremlin not being diligent in complying with the court’s orders.”
