Brownfield bill a good place to start next time

One of the disappointments in the recently concluded sessions of the General Assembly, was the failure to gain traction by a bill that would have expanded a program of tax credits for developers willing to tackle brownfields in Connecticut. The bill — House Bill 7055, An Act Concerning Connecticut First — would have gone a long way toward encouraging developers to take on projects that would help revitalize some of the more blighted pockets of Connecticut’s cities.
And, of course, brownfields are not solely the problem of cities. Though an old manufacturing center like Bridgeport, and its I-95 corridor of closed factories, may be the poster child for the issue, contaminated sites are all over the state, particularly along the rivers that historically were the favored locations for mills and factories.
