PlazaCorp plans to continue its redevelopment of aging industrial and
commercial buildings on the downtown Kalamazoo's northeast side with a
$2 million revamp of the former Neil's Automotive building.

The project on East Kalamazoo Avenue will complete the Kalamazoo-based
developer's acquisition and upgrade of two blocks of downtown property,
together creating about 150,000 square feet of new office and retail
space, according to Mark Chilcott, PlazaCorp principal.

PlazaCorp proposes preserving and enhancing the exterior of the
20,000-square-foot building at 167 E. Kalamazoo Ave. and constructing
new parking on the north side of the nearly one-acre property. Chilcott
said the building's interior will be gutted and redeveloped into
service-related commercial space or retail space for two or three
"tenants with unique showroom/warehousing needs."
